Zehri slams Modi over Balochistan statement

Alleging India involvement in subversive activities in Balochistan and Karachi, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson said Indian PM has crossed red line by mentioning Balochistan in his I-Day speech.

Pakistan Foreign Office, in a statement, said it would welcome any United Nations team of human rights experts.

Modi had said that people of Balochistan, Gilgit and Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PaK) have thanked him for raising their issue.

However, what prompted the comments from the Indian Prime Minister at the all-party meeting of August 12, as well as on Independence Day, was that he had received “various messages” from Balochistan that had “sufficiently moved him to share it with the people of India”.

He also proposed that the talks should include the progress made by the Pakistan government in detaining and prosecuting internationally recognised terrorists, who have been active in Pakistan in exhorting and supporting violence in Jammu and Kashmir.

“I find this an extraordinary remark from a senior functionary of Pakistan that recognises no red lines in its own diplomacy”.

About 60 militants took advantage of the riots in Jammu and Kashmir state to enter the country from Pakistan and carry out attacks in recent weeks, today revealed a security source.

“Access to UNHCHR has been denied by India” to Kashmir.

Angry protesters set ablaze the Indian flag and chanted slogans against the Indian prime minister.

“The Kashmiris are agitating for their right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations resolutions, whereas in Balochistan there is only a small group working on the behest of the enemy country”, Zehri said, referring to suspected Indian involvement in terror activities in the province.

“We have also stressed to UNHCHR the efforts and undivided attention of all organs of the Indian state for restoring normalcy in J-K in the face of incitement and support to terrorism from across our border”.

Zehri alleged that India is solidly behind the unrest in the volatile province, and the arrest of Indian spy Kulbhushan Yadav in Balochistan earlier this year is a clear evidence of Indian interference.

However, while welcoming any UN team that the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights may wish to send to AJK, we can not accept equating the rampant human rights violations in IOK with the situation in AJK, he said.
