Seth Rollins is arguably the top performer in WWE.

Fast forward almost 365 days later.John Cena is reportedly taking time off, Sasha Banks is out with a back injury, who knows when Randy Orton will be cleared to return? Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura are more than ready for that promotion and were likely at the forefront of that conversation.

Two nights after SummerSlam, the 888th edition of WWE SmackDown Live came to you, live, from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT.

That sucks, as WWE really got behind him. Since Smackdown went live, Dolph Ziggler has slowly emerged as a main eventer with heel tendencies. He pinned the United States Champion, Rusev as well. Everyone watching would’ve had their hearts in their mouth, wondering if the ankle injury was real.

I will discuss how this event affected Raw last night, as well as cover other topics in my Raw review.

WWE spoke to Finn Balor less than an hour after he relinquished the WWE Universal Championship, as seen in the video above.

Despite the severity of the injury, the news stemming from Tuesday’s operation was mostly positive, as the doctor pointed out that other than the injury being worse than originally believed, Balor’s surgery was a success. According to the time table, Balor should be back before Wrestlemania, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be a part of the card. Lord I hope he doesn’t slow anything down because of it. Hopefully Balor is a big enough name where that is not the case.

With the live broadcast underway, SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon and General Manager Daniel Bryan unveiled the new SmackDown Women’s Championship and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship belts. I felt an vast amount of respect for the Miz. I was also confused at whom showed up for that segment, and then the actual matches that took place.

It’s all well and good having two men enter a ring to fight, but when one of them enters like this?

We also have a new number one contender for the WWE World Title after a fantastic main event.

In a confusing finish, the match had to be ended early because Brock used a (banned, even in UFC) 12-to-6 elbow to bust Randy Orton open. Owens winning was the right call. As far as Roman Reigns and Jericho.well, it was no surprise that Reigns won.

No one will ever remember the championship matches that both Dolph Ziggler and The Miz were involved in.

Baylay finally debuts: At long last the travesty of justice of Baylay not being on the main roster has come to an end.

Sami Zayn is officially the best seller of an injury in the world. I’m not saying, one of the best promos from him. She instead makes a match between Bayley and her protege Dana Brooke. Decent send-off promo by the Dudleys, but the segment was nearly ruined by The Shinning Stars. Kudos though to Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows for coming in, and putting the Dudleys down.

That’s four wins in a row for SmackDown Live which is simply proving be the better show between the two brands.

Titus O’Neil came out to cut a promo on Darren Young and Bob Backlund. Just terrible! He flubbed his lines, and the crap with Backlund was stupid.
