Schalke close in on Bentaleb and Stambouli

According to reports from Mirror Football, Tottenham Hotspur are considering using Nabil Bentaleb as a makeweight in a deal to sign Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

Schalke revealed that Bentaleb will train with the squad on Thursday after the two clubs agreed an initial season-long loan deal, with an option to buy next summer.

Schalke have made an offer to take Nabil Bentaleb on loan with view to a permanent £17million transfer.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is believed to have been demanding at least £14 million for the 21-year-old Algeria global, who signed a five-year contract at Spurs in July 2015.

Sissoko was one of Newcastle’s more consistent players last season but the French midfielder was unable to help the Magpies avoid relegation to the Championship.

“We have exchanged documents with Spurs and he will probably participate in training this afternoon”.

With Milan’s interest in signing a central midfielder known, they have been offered Bentaleb on Tuesday, given that the midfielder has fallen down the pecking order under Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane.

It would seem therefore that the official confirmation of this deal is now just around the corner.

Speaking at a press conference this morning, director of sport Christian Heidel confirmed the agreement with Spurs for Bentaleb.

“Nabil is 100% fit but we need to be patient to give him time to integrate”.

“He’s now undergoing a medical and we’ve just got to wait for the results, but we are positive that it will work out”, Heidel said.

“They are going to do our game a lot of good”, he said.

Heidel ruled out making a move for another Spurs player, Son Heung-min.
