Trump’s strongest supporters in New Hampshire praised both moves, Democratic fans of Hillary Clinton insist this is a transparent stunt that won’t work and neutral Republicans say they need to see more.

Yet the camera-ready campaign stop did little to obscure the turmoil in Trump’s campaign, punctuated early Friday when Trump announced that he’d accepted campaign chairman Paul Manafort’s offer to resign.

At a Saturday rally in the battleground state of Virginia, Trump called on the Republican Party to boost its traditionally lagging efforts in winning over black voters.

Last week, Clinton campaigned in OH and Pennsylvania, although her voter-registration efforts and policy pitches went largely unnoticed as the spotlight turned to Trump and the shake-up of his campaign staff. Of course, many blacks - like many other Americans - face challenges.

But in the same speech here, he again slammed an order by the state’s Democratic governor, Terry McAuliffe, to restore voting rights to some convicted felons who have completed their sentences, a move McAuliffe says could help African-Americans who were disproportionally affected by laws that put lifetime bans on felons.

A Reuters/Ipsos survey released on Friday showed Clinton leading Trump nationally by 8 percentage points, 42 percent to 34 percent.

Clinton now leads 47.2 percent to Trump’s 41.2 percent among Americans, according to an average of national polls from Real Clear Politics, and is ahead in virtually every swing state.

Mook’s intervention was a devastating exposure of the class orientation of the Clinton campaign, which seeks to curry favor with Wall Street and the military-intelligence apparatus by arguing that Clinton, not Trump, is the more reliable defender of the interests of American imperialism.

Sens. Ron Wyden of OR and Chris Murphy of CT say their bill is specifically aimed at Donald Trump, who has refused to release his returns even though it’s standard practice for presidential candidates.

A day after striking a more conciliatory tone and expressing rare “regret” for provocative remarks, Trump basked in the appreciation of a group of aid volunteers gathered at a Baton Rouge church. “But that apology tonight is simply a well-written phrase until he tells us which of his many offensive, bullying and divisive comments he regrets and changes his tune altogether”, she said. Marco Rubio, R-FL, dropped out to run for re-election back home. “He wants to double down on letting Donald Trump be Donald Trump”, Mook said.

Republican pollster Greg Strimple said that’s not just spin. “But I personally don’t regret anything that he’s said”.

A federal judge also ordered Clinton to answer questions in writing from the conservative legal watchdog Judicial Watch about her controversial private email server.

On Friday, Clinton gained further support from her former Democratic primary campaign rival. “Any campaign is always in flux; I think there are a lot of issues relative to making changes”, Doucette said.
