The heat will taper off after storm chances

A current unnamed system will head toward the Bahamas this weekend, and likely develop into a storm before reaching Florida.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 59 degrees as of 6:54 a.m.at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with fair skies reported.

Today: Showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, otherwise partly sunny, with a high of 89. Plus highs will be heating up once again near 90. A south southeast wind of 6 to 13 miles per hour will become southwest in the afternoon.

Expect another hot and muggy day on Thursday with highs in mid-to-upper 90s and a heat index in the lower 100s.

Severe storms northwest of Indianapolis prompted several tornado warnings around 2:40 p.m. and there were reports law enforcement spotted a tornado near New Ross and Crawfordsville. High: 72. Winds NW 10-15 miles per hour. There’s a slight chance for a shower or storm very late night, but it’s really early tomorrow morning. The low will be around 65. High 82F. Winds W at 5 to 10 miles per hour. Rain buckets will only get filled up with an inch or less, we could use a lot more! The high will be near 80, with an east northeast wind of 6 to 9 miles per hour. The low will be around 69. 30 percent chance of showers and thundershowers.
