Android 7.1 Nougat to Bring Nexus Launcher and Google Assistant

The newly launched Android “Nougat” version – which is now available to the users of certain Google Nexus devices – underscores a massive upgrade of the Android OS, thanks to the inclusion of a number of noteworthy new features. It’s a great addition for tablets, but you can use it on phones, too, sizing the app windows until each is just right.

As with every major Android update, the update won’t be hitting everyone immediately.

Firstly, you can wait for the OTA update for your device, which Google will be pushing in coming weeks or days depending on your region of existence etc. As Nexus 7 users, it’s harder to get an opt-out selection when then Nexus 9 and Pixel C are somehow expensive devices themselves.

Further updates in the new OS includes Multi-window which permits users to run two apps side-by-side. Google hasn’t given any statement yet about the two new Nexus devices built by HTC, when they will be released and what hardware specs they will have.

Initially spotted by an Android developer on Reddit (via PhoneArena), the crash and report section of Google’s developer console now features a reference to Android 7.1 (below).

The new OS also has Google’s new Daydream virtual reality platform, although it will be supported only by Daydream-ready handsets running the OS.

These are merely a few features that we know about the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system but with more to be declared by people who are already using it we will give you more updates.
