In the video, Chotepur is purportedly seen assuring the party volunteer a government office in exchange for money. According sources in AAP, the party may remove Chhotepur from his post. With reports indicating that differences have cropped up within the AAP in poll-bound Punjab and convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur has been marginalised, the Congress jumped in his defence on Thursday, saying that “outsider” AAP leaders were trying to fix a “son of the soil”.

Seeking an explanation from Kejriwal and other AAP leaders for the hundreds of crores of rupees collected for the Punjab assembly elections, Amarinder Singh sought a probe into the AAP funding.

However, after his meeting with Sidhu last week, Kejriwal had said that the former Indian batsman needed more time to take a decision on joining AAP.

Giving clarification about his absence in the announcement of candidate lists by AAP, Chhotepur said that he wasn’t informed while publicizing the candidate list. Sidhu being a convict is also something Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is learnt to have expressed his strong reservations about. The leader said that he would never do anything which harms the party. “If a similar video of mine surfaces, I will be the first to quit politics”. However, Chhotepur said that he has no information about party mulling any action against him.

Chhotepur has told media that he had objections to a few names and had sought time to meet Kejriwal. “I have already said that it (sting) is a move to embarrass me”.

The AAP is likely to pose a tough challenge to the Akali Dal-BJP combine and the Congress in the forthcoming assembly polls. Arvind Kejriwal is leaving no stone unturned to repeat his party’s Delhi victory in Punjab.
