Gov. Mike Pence is visiting Kokomo, Ind. Thursday morning after the city was hit by a EF3 tornado Wednesday.

As of 7:30 pm Wednesday night, Sheriff Tim Meyer says there was minor damage reported through out the county.

The weather service says one tornado was an EF3 with 165 miles per hour winds.

There have not been any immediate reports of major injuries or fatalities across IN or OH due to the severe thunderstorms. However, none are thought to be life-threatening at this time.

The state’s Department of Homeland Security reported early Thursday that 12 tornadoes hit the state, but later the agency revised that number to eight.

Pence returned to IN after campaign stops IN North Carolina on Wednesday as Donald Trump’s running mate and called off a campaign trip planned Thursday. It’s located at the Kokomo Events Center at 1500 North Reed Road.

“It struck the exact same areas and we are seeing similar damage.it also moved very slowly”, Deane said. All roads in Kokomo and Howard County are closed to everyone except emergency vehicles.

Deane warned residents to be aware of any hazards around them, and if they see any please contact officials in that area so they may respond.

Pressed on whether he would clear his campaign schedule for the rest of the week, Pence said: “We’ll be here as long we need to be to make sure Hoosiers who have been impacted by these storms have what they need and have the support they need”.

The tornado also ripped through Park Place Apartments in Kokomo, causing heavy damage to the buildings. Mobley rushed in to help people trapped by the rubble.

“It was hellish”, he said of the experience.

The National Weather Service has confirmed reports of a tornado spotted on the ground near Crawfordsville.
