This year’s fair runs through Labor Day, Sept. 5.

Cuomo also took the tram to tour some of the renovations, like the newly widened Midway. Students with the NCTA Livestock Judging Team and NCTA Agricultural Education program are helping with youth events and livestock shows, particularly the second weekend for FFA and 4-H contests.

Governor Cuomo was in town to help cut the ribbon on the 2016 edition of the fair.

Cuomo also announced the return of IndyCar racing at Watkins Glen International in 2017 and 2018.

Every hour between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., eight lifetime passes to the Fair will be given away.

Our friends at syracuse.com have seen many, many New York State Fairs come and go year after year. You can get the shirts at gates 1-4 when you arrive. “The fairgrounds have been reinvigorated and the changes will leave a lasting impression – from the attractive new gate that will greet our visitors to the more open, comfortable midway”.
