Man U role at top of my career: Mourinho
The big team news from Manchester came from the home side as France midfielder Paul Pogba was named in Mourinho’s starting XI on his return to the 20-time English champions.

Ryan Giggs believes Paul Pogba showed he is a player who “can do everything” after a superb debut against Southampton.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho praised “fantastic” midfielder Paul Pogba after the world’s most expensive player made his first start in the 2-0 win over Southampton.
“I’m desperate for September to arrive for the Capital One Cup and the Europa League and then they will get what they all deserve which is to play”.
He said: “We spoke like two weeks ago about it so there was no confusion”.
At that point United gained nearly complete control, allowing Jose Mourinho to enjoy victory on his first game in charge of United at Old Trafford. I try to help my team-mates and I’ve scored three goals in total.
Mourinho was happy with his team’s performance but said the scoreline could have been more dominant after Zlatan Ibrahimovic headed the opener and then sealed the points with a penalty.
“There is an evolution in things and we have to go in relation to that”.
His first touch for the club since playing in a 5-0 win at Wolves in March 2012 saw him concede possession.
“We need to get used to winning because the mental part is also important”.
For United, it was an opportunity to showcase the fruits of their summer crafts at full strength, a chance to prove that they really are here to challenge for silverware. “He is learning to play with us”.
“I think his impact will be something very natural, a progressive impact of contribution to improve the team, because that’s what he’s here for – to win trophies”.
“I’m very happy. I know we can not play 90 minutes the way we want to”.
“He was all over the pitch, he wants to get on the ball and it was a brilliant, brilliant performance when you take into consideration he’s only trained for a week, the price tag and he’s still only 23”.
“We have a big squad and a top quality squad so I need September urgently”.

“I need September because the relations can be good, the players can be great professionals but a player is a player and when he doesn’t play one game, two, three… the frustration comes”, Mourinho explained.
