The 55-year-old took to her personal website on Thursday August 25, 2016 to reveal to her fans the reason for her absence and silence lately, and revealed she has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Kassia, who is married to fellow soap star James DePaiva from One Life To Live, has appeared on daytime soaps Guiding Light and General Hospital. She revealed she was asked to reprise her role as Eve Donovan on “Days of Our Lives” but found out during the show’s July hiatus that she had cancer. I will continue treatment over the next 3 months.
“I consider this just a bump in the road”, she continued. “I have incredible prayer warriors, family and friends that have been extremely supportive and life affirming throughout this”, she noted.
Kassie says she has a strong faith and a wonderful support system in her family and friends.
Kassie tells us on her webpage, kassiedepavia.com, that though this is a private matter she wanted the Days of Our Lives fans to know that she plans to be back in Salem soon. “Keep me in your thoughts and prayers”. It is the most common type of acute leukemia in adults. If you would like to donate blood or platelets which Leukemia patients need a lot of, please contact your local blood bank or American Red Cross.
Kassie DePaiva ended her post on an upbeat note. She joined Days of Our Lives in 2014 and departed in September 2015, with her final episodes airing in February.
