ICC to review Tests washout

Pakistan have clinched the pole position in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test rankings after the draw between West Indies and India in the fourth Test in Trinidad.

India won the series 2-0 after the final Test was nearly entirely wiped away by rain and a bad outfield.

Cricket-obsessed Pakistanis were Tuesday celebrating their national team’s “incredible journey” to the top of the Test rankings after a turbulent seven years in which they were forced to play home matches on neutral venues.

Meanwhile, Kohli seemed to be quite impressed the way R Ashwin and Wridhiman Saha batted down the order.

“It is very important to be selfless in the team and it is a quality of this team”.

Despite the successes of the lower-order batsmen in the first three Tests, India went into the final Test with six batsmen, a wicketkeeper, and only four bowlers. “So, those were the areas for us to solidify”, the skipper added.

Miandad said while he was happy that Pakistan, despite the many problems it was facing as a cricket nation, had topped the test ranking table, the ICC needed to come out with a better system.

“We are going to play world-class sides at home who are going to capitalise on the window of chance we give them”.

“But as a team we think we can assess ourselves at the end of this season, not one Test at a time”, Kohli said, reported IANS.

West Indies and India will play two Twenty20 Internationals in Lauderhill, Florida, on August 27 and 28 as both teams seek to tap into the huge expatriate Indian population in the United States.

“We lost a Test in Galle (on the Sri Lanka tour last year) when we were a batsman short”.

Furthermore, Misbah asserted that Pakistan’s aim will be to maintain their position at the top of the table by challenging the best sides in the game and perform consistently. “As I said the context of the game and how much impact I can make on the game is what I keep looking for”.

“The good thing is that our selectors and management didn’t tinker around with the Test side a lot and there was continuity in selection and this has now brought us positive results in England and made us the number one side”.

“Our long-term objective and strategy is to remain competitive, continue to challenge the top sides with good cricket and once again become the most followed side like the Pakistan teams of yesteryears”. If we play with just one combination, teams are going to start planning against us.
