He has hailed the impact of Mourinho and said that he is bringing a feeling of “aggression and character”, qualities which the whole team needs to win games, which is important.
However, Wenger highlighted the absentees in defense – Gabriel Paulista, Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny – while agreeing on the need to be ready for the first game of the season. These sorts of games were the ones where we conceded goals a year ago so maybe when we go 2-0 down we need to be more defensive and stay in the game rather than chase it.
