The Oakloand County Sheriff’s Office says Rodgers was sentenced yesterday in 6th Circuit Court for carrying a concealed weapon and for carrying a weapon in a school zone. According to reports, authorities were alerted to the mistake by Rodgers’ mother, who was stunned to find her 24-year-old son knocking on her front door.
According to the state corrections department website, under a plea Rodgers was sentenced to seven to 15 years in prison in November 2015 for assault with intent to murder and armed robbery in Wayne County, according to information on the Corrections Department website. He was sentenced to 153 days in jail with time served.
Rodgers, 25, is 6 feet tall and about 187 pounds with tattoos on his arms, face, neck and chest.
Police say Rodgers has no money or cellphone, and believed to be in the city of Detroit.
The Undersheriff confirmed “there is a cash reward” being offered for information leading to Johnnie’s capture and arrest.
According to Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, Rodgers was in the OCJ on a writ since August 1 from the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) to address charges in Oakland County for carrying a concealed weapon and for carrying a weapon in a school zone.
At the time, he was wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and Timberland boots.
McCabe confirmed an internal investigation is being conducted to determine how the inmate was mistakenly released. “If people were to see him, I would definitely call 911”, Corrections Department spokesman Chris Gautz said.

“A deputy in the booking section apparently missed the MDOC detainer”, McCabe said in a statement.
