Ubisoft shelves Division DLC in favor of fixing the core game
The Division’s second expansion, Survival, has been delayed until sometime later this year.

It acknowledged that even though The Division has had an “incredible” six months since it was released, the game remains “affected by lingering issues that have accumulated since release”. The first DLC pack has been made available recently, but it seems like the other two will be released later than anticipated. Meanwhile, the game’s 1.4 update, originally scheduled to release alongside expansion two, will now release independently in October.
As outlined by the developers, Update 1.4 is said to improve a lot of systems that are part of The Division’s core gameplay.
“This new schedule will not only enable us to strengthen the core experience before adding new content, but also continuously improve it by allowing for more production time to ensure the quality of future updates as well”, said a development post on the official website.
After the update, loot drops will be “more relevant to the player”, and various balancing will be done across gear sets, weapons, and player versus player combat in the Dark Zone. This is the more admirable approach and also the one that’s best for the future of The Division.
Changes coming with Update 1.4 will be detailed in a Special Report livestream on September 13.

It’s now working on a new update that’s going to address some of the issues that the community has highlighted in The Division. However, it comes at the cost of receiving the game’s new content several months later than promised, something about which the game’s most hardcore players will likely be less than thrilled. Competitive players aren’t being left out either, with the Dark Zone and PvP in general due to get a series of “balancing” changes. How many people will still be playing come early 2017, following the release of dozens of new games over the holiday season?
