Premier League Preview and Prediction: Tottenham vs Liverpool

It’s an opportunity to play for your country, to play for a place in the next World Cup. Last season for Spurs was something of a model for Liverpool to follow. They have the high-priced talent, but have not been able to collect positive results often enough to merit being considered legitimate Premier League title contenders.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds will continue their search for consistency on Saturday as they travel to White Hart Lane for a lunch-time clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham will welcome Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool back to Spurs on Saturday. However, they were burned on a pair of perfectly executed counter-attacks which resulted in goals by Andre Grey and Sam Vokes. “To play in front of 90,000 people will be a great moment for us, a great moment for Tottenham and our supporters too”.

Liverpool, who played a full-strength team in the 5-0 win over Burton Albion, started their Premier League campaign with a 4-3 win over Arsenal earlier in the month before going down 2-0 to newly promoted Burnley last weekend.

“The Champions League is a big motivation for every player and, with respect to the Europa League, it is not the same”, said Pochettino.

“And there’s nothing we can do because the players want to be involved”. In the game, we didn’t see it, so we needed to use this.

“For us, everything could have been better, but it could have been worse”.

“We were there, where we had to be”.

“He’s very good”, said the manager. Otherwise, a strong Spurs side will be hard to get the best of on their own patch. “It was not the best time (while I was injured)”. Still, as always, this match is going to decided on the field of play. It’s good to be back.

Meanwhile, the manager was not impressed by Erik Lamela’s nutmeg on former Spurs player Andros Townsend in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane.

With regards to the global break, while it helps give some players rest now that the season is underway, Mauricio Pochettino is not particularly keen on losing his starters so early in the year.

Sturridge recently revealed that he was frustrated at being asked to play on the wing, insisting “everyone knows where I enjoy playing the most”, per Stuart James of the Guardian. “It’s emotion. We were very close to scoring in the first half, the second half the same and when you score in the 84th minute it’s impossible to keep calm”.
