Mosquitoes capable of transmitting Zika found in 7th county
Scott made the same trip back in May when the only Zika cases in Florida were the result of travel to countries or areas where the virus is common. Still, surveillance has confirmed the presence of Aedes albopictus mosquitos, which have also been linked with Zika transmission. Zika can be spread via sexual transmission.

Zika infections in pregnant women can cause severe brain-related birth defects. “Hopefully something good will happen and it will just be a single case”.
Mosquitoes capable of transmitting the Zika virus have been found in a seventh county. The instance was confirmed to be travel-related, and the local news site relayed that no evidence of the virus was found to be transmitted in the Statesboro area.
New Zika virus cases appear to be rapidly spreading throughout the U.S.
But lawmakers earlier this summer failed to agree on both a request from President Barack Obama for $1.9 billion for anti-Zika efforts and a U.S. Senate plan that would have allocated $1.1 billion. A resident of that state who visited Miami recently tested positive for the virus. It has since spread to over 35 countries in Central and South America and the Caribbean.
Most of the thousands of Zika infections recorded globally have so far occurred in Latin America and the Caribbean.
USA officials said they don’t expect to see a Zika epidemic in the United States similar to those in Latin America.
The CDC advises pregnant women not to travel to an area where active Zika transmission is ongoing, and to use insect repellent and wear long trousers and long-sleeved shirts if they are in those areas. Partners of pregnant women are advised to use a condom to guard against sexual transmission during pregnancy.

The Florida Department of Health still believes ongoing active transmission is only taking place within the small identified areas in Wynwood and Miami Beach in Miami-Dade County and will provide updates on the ongoing investigations in Pinellas and Palm Beach counties as they conclude.
