South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu back in hospital

The veteran anti-apartheid campaigner, 84, admitted himself to a hospital in Cape Town Wednesday, according to the statement posted on social media.

“On behalf of the City of Cape Town, I wish to extend our well wishes to Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu while he undergoes treatment in hospital”, De Lille said.

“He is expected to remain in hospital for a week or two”.

The 84-year-old Nobel Peace Prize victor is expected to remain in the hospital for a week or two, said the statement issued by the foundation late Wednesday. He is one of Africa’s most respected clergy, having been honoured with the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his part in helping end apartheid in South Africa.
