“The way that we practice and the way that we play, whoevers out there were ready to go, ” said veteran left tackle Nate Solder, who played in just four games last season before going on season-ending injured reserve. He did not elaborate. “The scissors slipped. Just a silly accident”.

There is no concrete information on the severity of the reported injury or a timetable for Brady to heal, though some reports said he left Gillette Stadium without a wrapping on either hand, which would suggest the wound is not too serious.

“I want to put all my effort and thoughts into this week and next week, try to go out and play in a couple good preseason games, see if I can get some of that game action and then deal with that when it comes”.

“Teams aren’t game planning, teams aren’t attacking players like they would in the regular season”, Patriots Coach Bill Belichick said. It probably won’t result in any serious consequences for Garoppolo, who is the only quarterback in camp now capable of replacing Tom Brady for the first four weeks of the regular season, but you can bet he’ll be getting a crash course on Belichick’s protocols before his next press conference before the news-hungry New England media. “I’m preparing like I’m gonna be the starter”.

Asked in particular what the team loses without Vollmer, Solder said there were “so many things.”. He’s got two remaining opportunities before the start of four-game regular-season NFL suspension for what the league says was his role in “Deflategate”. At the end of the day, you’ve got to go out there and play.

“The QBs ran out for warmups and it was like, ‘all right, I’m not playing.’ A bummer I couldn’t be out there with my teammates”.

“Obviously injuries, they’re a factor at this time of year for every team so there are some positions where you need depth, some positions where you have depth and you can’t play everybody”.

“I’d like to take advantage of any opportunity, any and all of them if possible”, Brady recently said. Preparing backup Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to fill in for Brady during his suspension is taking priority.

He said how he will handle staying in football shape during that time is still to be determined.
