Bernie Sanders’ New Group ‘Our Revolution’ to Launch Amidst Internal Turmoil
His new group, Our Revolution, is set to launch officially Wednesday night.

For Pathak, the unlikeliness of the situation didn’t hit until the California primary, when he said he saw the Associated Press call Hillary Clinton the presumptive nominee for the first time, before the vote even took place. This was core staff members in key positions deciding Our Revolution was doomed to failure. Her entire department of four people quit, in fact. The digital director, Kenneth Pennington, went too.
For an organisation aiming to organise grassroots volunteers through digital media, this was quite a blow.
Allowing unlimited contributions from anonymous groups is also the polar opposite of the presidential campaign, in which Sanders rarely failed to point out his average contribution was $27. The former chairman of the state’s Democratic Party initially backed Sanders but now supports Clinton.
“What we want to do mostly is we want to keep the energy and enthusiasm developed during the campaign alive”, the senator said.
Claire Sandberg, the former organizing director at Our Revolution, explained, Mr. Weaver would “betray its core objective by accepting money from billionaires and not remaining grass-roots-funded and plowing that billionaire cash into TV instead of investing it in building a genuine movement”. “If she responds, we’ll know she’s willing to work with our movement, and I think that will be enough to convince many that they can work with her as well”.
That said, Our Revolution hasn’t been without growing pains. “If elected, Peter will continue to serve not just as a politician, but as a true public servant, and will fight to instill progressive values into New Jersey’s legislation”, the website said.
Weaver’s appointment was not the only thing to turn activists away.
“Politico reported Weaver is leaning toward the more traditional political fundraising tools most groups use, including accepting large donations from wealthy contributors, something that was anathema to the Sanders campaign’s “$27” ethos – the average size of a contribution made to the Sanders campaign.
Mills said Clinton is not doing all that she should be to reach out to Sanders supporters, but he does like that she is trying.
Sanders vowed a new governing board was coming after NBC News reported that the organization’s board was composed entirely of white men following Jane Sanders’ resignation as chairman. “They prevented people from voting”, said Azarian.
There are also questions over what Our Revolution will actually do. The hack of thousands of emails revealed messages sent and received by multiple top party officials discussing Sanders’s campaign and its viability. We did that successfully in the campaign.
He said he is nearly as focused on winning back a Democratic majority in the Senate in November which could mean he would chair either the Budget Committee or the Health, Education and Labor Committee next January.
“Sen. Sanders drawing attention to it just adds another opportunity for us to talk about the specific problems with Amendment 69”, said No On 69 spokesman Sean Duffy. “It happens when people come together and demand fundamental change in this country”. State Senator David Zuckerman has been endorsed by Senator Sanders in his run for Lieutenant Governor.
“As I understand it”, he said, “Our Revolution will endorse 100 candidates”.
“There is an important ballot initiative in Colorado which calls for a (single-payer) health care system”, Sanders said at an event in Vermont.

Though he won 22 state primaries, his supporters say he was cheated out of the nomination.
