DJI Adds Osmo+ Camera to Stock
The Osmo Plus, which includes the Zenmuse X3 zoom camera and handle, is $649 (AU$1,099, £629) and available now.

DJI states that this new camera is “similar to, but not interchangeable with, the new Zenmuse Z3 zoom camera” that is compatible with the Inspire 1 drone. The Osmo+ offers 7x zoom, with 3.5x optical and 2x digital lossless zoom available at 1080p, which gives the camera a 22mm-77mm focal range.
Another new feature of the Osmo+ is motion time-lapses, that is, the ability to record regular time-lapses but with camera shifting its orientation over the duration of the capture.
You can also snap 12MP still images in JPEG or RAW and, while the Osmo+ is primarily pitched at videographers, as with its predecessor there are ways in which its stabilisation smarts come in very handy for stills work, like long exposures and multi-shot panoramas.

Drone-maker DJI impressed us with its portable Osmo action camera released a year ago. This can be done by tapping the beginning and end recording points on an attached smartphone within the DJI Go app, which doubles as viewfinder. For more detailed specs of DJI’s new Osmo+ camera system, check out the company’s official website. Customers in China and North America also have the option of adding a new extended warranty, called Osmo Shield, for $65. For those who want to move beyond the hand-held gimbal, you can pick up a tripod, bike mount or an extension rod (basically a giant selfie stick if we’re being honest). The Osmo Shield doubles the coverage of the standard warranty to two years and includes unlimited maintenance and a one-time-use accidental damage fix.
