For fans of shows such as Twin Peaks and True Detective, Virginia may be a must-play. It also seems to be drawing on the seemingly insatiable thirst the public has for “90s nostalgia”.

As mentioned, Virginia is set in a small town that holds a dark secret, it’s your job as Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Anne Tarver to locate a missing child, but as you dig deeper into the case, new hidden agendas are revealed. A demo version of Virginia is now available on Steam.

Variable State writes on the official Virginia website: “As your investigation takes a turn for the sinister, and the list of suspects grows ever larger and stranger, you will make decisions which irrevocably shape the course of Anne’s and agent Halperin’s lives”. 505 Games will be publishing the indie game, and they’ve released a new trailer for it. One of which is the game’s editing. The score for Virginia was recorded live by the Prague Philharmonic and was composed by Lyndon Holland.

Virginia is a first-person mystery thriller set in the summer of 1992, when a boy goes missing in a rural town located in the titular state.

It is told in the style of TV and film and accentuates the dramatic aspect with a slew of curious characters and a painterly art style that really brings out the vibrancy of it all.
