Zinedine Zidane’s side won the trophy last season – a record 11th in the club’s history – as Cristiano Ronaldo scored the decisive penalty in the shoot-out against city rivals Atletico after the final in Milan finished 1-1. Borussia Dortmund and Legia Warsaw are also in Group F. The Whites were eliminated by Dortmund at the semi-final stage in 2013, but took revenge a year later by beating the Germans in the quarter-finals.

Uefa also said that the Europa League winners will also automatically qualify for the Champions League group stage.

The draw for the group stages of the Champions League has just been conducted and Arsenal, Tottenham and Leicester City will be confident of progressing but Manchester City have a tough job ahead of them.

Club secretary David Miles said: “This is our 19th consecutive season in the Champions League and of those 19 years we have qualified from the group stage 16 times”.

Rogic has started the season in fine form at Celtic Park, netting two goals in the League Cup as well as the opener in the first leg of their UCL play-off triumph.

The association coefficient, which determines the ranking of countries in the access list, will remain unchanged.

He added: “These are three very established European football clubs and strong teams”.

It’s tough to play in Germany and Dortmund have improved over the last couple of seasons.

The final at the Principality Stadium will be played on June 3 next year, with the opening group games set for September 13 and 14. We are very excited.

Prediction: PSG wins the group with Arsenal a second-place finisher.

Paris St Germain and Arsenal, who are attempting to reach the round of 16 for the 17th time in a row, are the favourites in Group A.

The other side, Napoli, will meet Benfica, Besiktas and Dynamo Kiev in Group B.

Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic face a nightmare draw of Barcelona, Man City, Borussia Monchengladbach.

Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven, who won the European Cup in 1988, and Champions League debutants FC Rostov, from Russian Federation make up the group.

Group E: CSKA Moscow (Russia), Bayer Leverkusen (Germany), Tottenham (England), Monaco (France).
