Dozens of people have gathered outside a northwest Albuquerque apartment complex for a candlelight vigil for a murdered young girl.
The girl’s birthday was Tuesday, a day before her body was found.
“She seemed fine, she didn’t seem scared or upset”, Quintana said.

Only a kid herself, Quintana was with Victoria just days before she died talking about the big new school year as a 10-year-old.
Gonzales’ criminal history dates back to 2004.
Kelley has a criminal history dating back to 2003, and court records show she acted as a lookout while a woman allegedly raped another inmate at the Metropolitan Detention Center in September 2012.
The newspaper says Kelley pleaded no contest to conspiracy to commit criminal sexual penetration and was sentenced to three years in prison minus almost a year for time served.
Kelley remains in hospital after sustaining injuries attempting to flee the scene.
Miera said Martens worked in the children’s ministry at their church as a daycare worker and she said Victoria was also very passionate about God and Christianity.
Many at the school say they’re heart broken after this disgusting tragedy.
The district said Thursday that Victoria Martens was a student at Petroglyph Elementary School on Albuquerque’s west side.
In a statement, New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez (R) called the manner in which Victoria was killed “atrocious”. The mother’s boyfriend and his cousin are suspects.
On Thursday, a judge set the bond for both Martens and Gonzales at $1 million, cash-only. Neither entered a plea.
KRQE News 13 has learned the suspects in the girl’s death are no strangers to the law.
The complaint says the girl’s body was in a bathtub, partially wrapped in a burning blanket.
Rachell Miera, an acquaintance of Martens from work and church, brought her three crying daughters, only a little older than Victoria, to drop off balloons.
“I tried my best to protect Michelle and the baby”, said Gonzales.
Michelle Martens, Victoria’s 35-year-old mother, along with Michelle’s 31-year-old boyfriend, Fabian Gonzales, have confessed to the abuse and murder, stating that they injected methamphetamines into the 10-year-old girl’s system in order “to make her calm down so they could do what they wanted with the little girl”. Court records say she jumped off a balcony.
One of the police officers who arrived at the apartment found the girls body in a bathroom, rolled up in a blanket that had been set on fire.
Police say it all happened in the mother’s apartment at Irving and Golf Course early Wednesday morning, after someone reported a disturbance.
31-year-old Jessica Kelley was hospitalized, an Albuquerque Police Department spokesperson said, and will be booked after she is released.
Neighbor John Madrid frequently saw the girl around the complex and in the morning, waiting for her school bus.
At that point, authorities allege the group stabbed and strangled the girl to death.
The charges against the three include child abuse resulting in death, kidnapping and tampering with evidence. The boyfriend also is charged with criminal sexual penetration of a minor. They found the girl’s remains under a burning blanket. Kelley and Gonzales are both also charged with rape.

The release didn’t elaborate, but the Albuquerque Journal reported that Tixier said the child was injected with methamphetamine, sexually assaulted and then stabbed or strangled to death.
