Hirabayashi signs off by promising to keep fans updated as development continues, and given the special place Resident Evil 2 has in the hearts of so many, we’re sure plenty of people will be waiting.
Details are extremely slim at the moment, but the title was confirmed to be in the early development cycles with no other information revealed on the remake. “The team here at Capcom Japan really appreciates fans’ passion and support and will do our best to bring fans what they really want”, said Hirabayashi as quoted in the same website.
According to Kotaku, Capcom has been teasing about the “Resident Evil 2 HD Remaster” on their Facebook Page but only have officially announced the game today.
Even though no release date or specific platforms have been announced for the Resident Evil 2 remake, it’s highly likely that the title will appear on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
We’re truly living in a golden age where all of the best PSone titles are coming back from the dead. As for the older ones, who were part of the original “Resident Evil” fandom, it’s a way for them to rehash the experience of one of the classic horror games of years past.
The remake is being produced by Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the producer behind this year’s Resident Evil HD Remake.
“Resident Evil 2” finally gets the green light from Capcom. The Remake overhauled the original’s visuals, added new areas and gameplay elements, changed some of the puzzles and incorporated new voice acting while also updating the game’s dialogue and script.

Currently, there is no word on which consoles “Resident Evil 2” will be available on. That seems unlikely. One thing for sure though, if you were expecting game companies to release less remakes going forward, think again.
