Turkey must control its own border, US Vice President Biden says

Ankara will probably send the United States a coup-related extradition request for Gulen next week, the Turkish justice minister said on Wednesday. Yildirim noted that the U.S. had shown its firm support for Turkey and that the visit had helped to clear up misunderstandings and speculation on relations between the two countries.

Tensions over the coup attempt deepened a rift among Turks in South Africa, where the Turkish ambassador, Kaan Esener, described operators of Gulen-inspired schools as a “crime syndicate” in a radio interview.

Biden sought to assuage concerns that the USA was shielding Gulen. “You have to hand him over”. “Why are they protecting them?” asked Furkan Murel, a student in Istanbul, in an interview with CBC News last month.

The United States has made it clear to Syrian Kurdish forces that they must return to east of the Euphrates river after seizing control of the Syrian town of Manbij to retain USA support, Vice President Joe Biden said on Wednesday.

Biden said he is astonished by the bravery the Turkish people displayed during the failed coup attempt on July 15.

That sentiment has led to what are viewed – outside Turkey at least – as a web of conspiracy theories linking the U.S.to the coup. That’s what the Turkish and Iranian foreign ministers’ mentioned in their press conference that despite disagreement on the Syria conflict, they would keep the dialogue open.

“The United States of America did not, did not, have any foreknowledge of what befell you on the 15th”. The Syrian government is complaining about the violation of its territorial integrity after twenty Turkish tanks rolled across the border on Wednesday, ostensibly to support the Free Syrian Army in its push to capture Jarabulus.

Responding to repeated claims in some Turkish media outlets following the coup attempt that the USA had been complicit, Biden reiterated that Washington “did not have any foreknowledge of the events”.

“The frank statements by the vice-president are very important to us”, Yildirim said.

The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a group waging a separatist struggle with the Turkish state for three decades, is – like Hamas – a US -designated FTO.

US Vice President Joe Biden said the United States (US) will continue cooperating with the Turkish government on extraditing Turkish cult leader Fethullah Gülen pointing out they would not protect someone who harmed their ally.

Turkish President Erdogan said, “Right now, unfortunately, all the attacks that happened in Gaziantep and Kilis…brought this issue to this point”.

“There wasn’t much resistance at all from ISIS forces and they retreated even faster after Turkish troops marched across the border”, said Ahmed al-Gader, a rebel fighter speaking from Jarablus, using an acronym for the Islamic State. “The United States was shocked at the violation of the fundamental democratic principles both our nations cherish”.

Biden sidestepped a question of whether he raised human rights concerns in the private meeting with the prime minister. Let’s give them some time. A Turkish military expedition into Syria has threatened a Kurdish political project just as Kurdish forces seemed on the verge of connecting their northern Syrian zones.

Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Turkey today on what’s being seen as a fence-mending mission. General Stephen Townsend, issued a more official threat to take military action against Syria and Russian Federation. Gulner Aybet mentions the “pressing items” upon Biden’s agenda in his one-day visit to Turkey, and that involves the man now living in Pennsylvania, Fethullah Gulen.

Numerous fighters posted photographs and videos of themselves online with the green, black and white flag adopted by the Syrian opposition as they walked through what appeared to be empty streets, passing buildings still flying the flag of the Islamic State.
