Daniel Sturridge wants centre stage at Liverpool
“It’s 10 years since we played Manchester United in the FA Cup so these games don’t come around very often for us”. I am on autopilot there. But when you are out wide, you have got to worry about different things. “We can’t just rely on Sadio but he’s been outstanding for us and he gives us something different”.

Burnley’s second goal, in particular, saw Liverpool players outmuscled and overwhelmed in a succession of duels, culminating in Clarets forward Andre Gray netting.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has responded to striker Daniel Sturridge’s criticism of him, rubbishing suggestions the player is dissatisfied with his current role. “I have nothing more to say about this at the moment”.
“I wait for the day when the transfer window is closed”, he said. ‘I don’t want to play Daniel as a wide player, but he can play there.
Sturridge recently stated that he was not happy being played out of position, and that he deserves to play as a central striker.

Tottenham welcome Liverpool to White Hart Lane on Saturday lunchtime as the third weekend of the new Premier League season kicks off with a huge game between two sides expected to do well this term.
“You need to have these players who are convinced they have to start and have to be angry when they don’t start”.
‘There is absolutely no problem. “They didn’t change too much and they have high individual quality”, Klopp said. “In our situation the squad should not be too big, we still have a lot of games but we don’t have 60 something games”.
Instead, the German explained that his approach was to achieve “flexible football”, with this merely Sturridge’s “starting position” in those games.
Daniel Sturridge has spoken of his frustration at being deployed out wide opposed to his favoured position in the centre. But speaking this yesterday ahead of the visit to Spurs, Klopp insisted that he doesn’t want to use Sturridge as a winger, but instead capitalise on the player’s intelligent movement to outsmart static defenders.
