Staff and guests at a central Birmingham hotel have been told to shelter indoors after an army bomb disposal team was called in following terror arrests in the area.

Police confirmed the Army Bomb Disposal Team were called in to the address in Leak Bank near Birmingham city centre.

“Fire crews have been supporting police colleagues with an ongoing operation in the Lea Bank area of Birmingham”, the West Midlands Fire service tweeted.

Police described the arrests as intelligence-led and part of an on-going investigation, where officers continue to search a number of properties.
