CC hammered as Yankees fall to Toronto, 7-4

Not one line in New York Yankee pitcher Chad Green’s biography would have indicated to the Blue Jays that they were facing the second coming of Cy Young Monday night. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m.at Yankee Stadium. Boston is just one game behind the Orioles and Blue Jays, so they still have plenty of time to win the division. It was Feldman’s first win with the Blue Jays since they acquired him from Houston at the August 1 trade deadline.

There is that excitement and enthusiasm in the Bronx with a youth movement of the New York Yankees and at one point Tuesday night it was that way again.

J.A. Happ won his 11th consecutive decision to become the first 17-game victor in the majors, and Melvin Upton Jr. hit a three-run homer to help the Toronto Blue Jays beat the New York Yankees 7-4 on Wednesday. “I felt like I could have pitched really deep into that game”. I think Estrada pitched well, just a couple pitches that were left up.It was big night for numerous guys.Martin had a big game a year ago here against these guys. “I would’ve used [Betances] for four outs maybe tonight, but we never got there”. He was scheduled to run through drills in the afternoon and could start Wednesday, Girardi said.

Besides, no matter who is in your bullpen, six big league pitchers should be able to secure a six-run lead over four innings.

The Yankees won for the fifth time in six games, taking the first 1-0 decision between the teams since 2005.

With a double to right field in the bottom of the fourth inning, Judge became the first New York Yankee with an extra-base hit and an RBI in his first three career games since RBI became an official stat in 1920. He made his departure after five innings, trailing 1-0, having allowed just four hits but also four walks.

– Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera was forced to make an early exit from Monday’s game with a left biceps strain. The last team to win five consecutive series at the home of the Yankees was the Cleveland Indians, who did it between the years 1967 and 1969. “When they get runs, they have to earn them”.

“If you can try to limit them to solos, you give yourself a chance”.

Tyler Clippard entered in the seventh and tossed a scoreless inning. Betances held on for his fifth save as the Yankees stopped a five-game losing streak to Toronto.

Green retired the first 13 batters, with just one ball hit out of the infield. After Troy Tulowitzki singled and Darrell Ceciliani doubled with one out in the fifth, the 25-year-old rookie fanned his final hitters.

Green twice struck out reigning AL MVP Josh Donaldson. Toronto’s decisive rally Tuesday started with Josh Donaldson grinding out his at-bat against just-inserted Adam Warren to draw a 12-pitch walk.

The Blue Jays didn’t score any runs in their last game. Michael Saunders has hit 105 times with 60 runs, 20 homers and 49 RBI.

The 36-year-old gave up three runs in the second inning, but his start completely fell apart in the fifth. Smoak is 0 for 28 with runners in scoring position since mid-June.

Blue Jays: OF Ezequiel Carrera (strained left Achilles tendon) was activated from the 15-day disabled list and started in right field.

Then Edwin Encarnacion came up and hit another grounder to third. Wendelstedt stayed in for the rest of the inning, then left for the night.

UP NEXT: The finale of the three-game set with Toronto. That was until Melvin Upton Jr. belted a three-run homer to right to put the Yankees down 7-2.
