According to details by ISPR, the militant gang has been planning the attack since some time and had prepared an explosive-laden vehicle and motorcycle, which they planned to use on August 14.

Pakistani security forces have successfully foiled a major plan of terrorist attack on August 14 in Karachi, Inter service Public Relation (ISPR) said. “Amir (second-in-command) of TT Swat chapter in Karachi had gone to Afghanistan for this goal”, the military said.

The security forces were tipped off and they continued surveillance of group for weeks before the operation was simultaneously launched on August 9 in Hyderabad and Karachi in Sindh province to arrest the terrorists.

He said that unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on a police mobile injuring four policemen, who later expired on their way to a hospital.

A suicide bombing plot targeting Independence Day celebrations in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi has been thwarted, a media report said on Thursday.
