Deputies encountered a man standing on the sidewalk in the 400 block of Wilmington Avenue, authorities said. Aerial footage from AIR7 HD appeared to show a man lying motionless on the ground at the scene, where multiple sheriff’s and fire department vehicles responded. The deputies reported that Taylor immediately pulled a gun and began running.

The department says the man produced the gun and ran, with deputies in pursuit. The deputies were not hurt. The statement says that when deputies caught up with the man near a wash he pointed the gun and the shooting occurred.

By late Friday afternoon, no gun had been found on or near Taylor or in the wash.

Lt. Steve Jauch says the search will continue with metal detectors.

“They said he pointed … a gun, (and) they tried to retrieve it, but they don’t know where the gun (is) at”, Taylor’s cousin, Monique Desrosiers, told Fox11. “Every piece of evidence that can help us get to the truth is important, and because deputies said he pointed a gun, we’d love to find that gun”.

Investigators were looking for witnesses to the shooting.
