“The FAA is diagnosing an automation problem at an air traffic center in Leesburg, VA. Some flights into and out of the New York and Washington, DC metro area airports area may be delayed”.

Washington Dulles global Airport and Baltimore-Washington worldwide Marshall Airport, as well New York’s La Guardia and John F. Kennedy worldwide airports, along with airports in New Jersey and Philadelphia are reporting similar delays.
Bowen & Wharton both say they encourage travelers to check the status of their flight before heading to the airport as they anticpate more delays and cancellations throughout the afternoon into the evening.
There were 134 flights canceled at airports in Baltimore and Washington as of 1 pm Eastern Daylight Time, according to flightaware.com, which monitors global air traffic. “We are directing high altitude traffic around the affected airspace”. Roberts said he boarded a Southwest Airlines flight that was supposed to take off at 10 a.m., but he was still sitting on the plane, waiting after 2 p.m. But he said his fellow passengers were taking the delay in stride.
