Ecuadorian woman falls to death in Yellowstone canyon

An Ecuadorian woman has fallen to her death at Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone in Yellowstone National Park. They have also concerned the preparations for celebrations set for Thursday marking the 100th anniversary of the formation of the National Park Service. She was socializing with co-workers near the trail at Grandview Point when she fell from the edge at about 3:15 a.m.

Estefania Liset Mosquera Alcivar, 21, of Quito, Ecuador, fell after stumbling off a trail tracing the rim. Park rangers and paramedics identified her body at first light and determined she could not have survived the fall.

Park officials announced on Friday afternoon that her body was recovered just after 10 a.m.by park search and rescue crews in a helicopter. The blaze in Grand Teton National Park shut down a route leading to Yellowstone’s South Entrance, so visitors coming from the south through Wyoming had to take a detour into Idaho.

Firefighters in Grand Teton are trying to reopen USA 89/191/287 that leads into Yellowstone, but officials remain uncertain when that will happen. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
