Before 12 time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte competes for the Mirror Ball on “Dancing With the Stars“, he first needs to make sure he doesn’t have to face jail time.
“I wasn’t lying to a certain extent”, he said.
“I over-exaggerated that story and if I had never done that, we wouldn’t be in this mess”.
Lochte has since acknowledged that he was highly intoxicated and that his behavior led to the confrontation.
After the Rio scandal, where Loche declared that he was threatened at gunpoint and robbed after a night out with his teammates, the Brazilian Police charged the professional swimmer.
The swimmer changed his story after police said the group of swimmers were confronted by armed security guards who requested money for the damage caused by them vandalizing a gas station bathroom.
After authorities questioned the truth of their account, a judge ordered them to remain in the country.
The 32-year-old left Brazil after the incident, but co-swimmers Bentz and Conger were not allowed to travel as authorities grilled them about the robbery.
FILE – In this August 11, 2016, file photo, United States’ Ryan Lochte competes in the men’s 200-meter individual medley final during the swimming competitions at the 2016 Summer Olympics, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Softish Throat Drops. Pine Bros. said people should be more understanding of Lochte, and said he’ll appear in ads that say the drops are “Forgiving On Your Throat”.
The decision comes after four companies, including swimwear giant Speedo, ended their relationships with Lochte following the controversy. “We appreciate his many achievements and hope he moves forward and learns from this experience”.
He and three US swimming teammates were out late partying in Rio.
As of now, he retains endorsements with Gatorade, Proctor & Gamble, Nissan and Mutual of Omaha.
Scorn initially came upon Lochte when he said men bearing badges robbed him and his teammates.
“I’m taking full responsibility for it”, Lochte said in an interview broadcast last Saturday.
In Rio, Lochte won gold along with Henrico’s Townley Haas, Michael Phelps, and Connor Dwyer in the Men’s 4x200m freestyle relay.

Police detective Celement Braune told Fox News there is no penalty for Lochte not appearing in court, though if he doesn’t go he will not be able to engage in a plea deal.
