A day after she was convicted of perjury and other offenses, Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane, once considered a rising star in the Democratic Party, announced her resignation, effective at the end of the workday Wednesday.

In a muted but real-life Game of Thrones, Kane couldn’t walk away from her war unscathed.

The governor said he will work with Republican and Democratic leaders in the state Senate to fill Kane’s vacancy.

Kathleen Kane should not spend one more minute as the state’s attorney general.

On Monday, though, a jury convicted Kane on nine counts, including perjury, obstruction and official oppression related to her political machinations while leading the office.

Although it is not the focus of Kane’s conviction, there is another chapter of Kane’s story that people are talking about Tuesday: The once-powerful Attorney General Kathleen Kane routinely used personal email accounts to conduct official business.

According to CNN, Kane was furious, saying “I will not allow them to discredit me or our office”.

“[Bill Clinton] thereby reminded Pennsylvanians and Washington political-watchers that the Clinton machine still has big game in a big state-and that Kane was their girl”, Zito wrote.

Figures from the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing show that out of 32 felony perjury cases sentenced past year, 24 resulted in either state prison (19) or county jail (5) sentences.

Prosecutors said Kane was incensed by a 2014 newspaper article that said she had shut down a corruption investigation into Philadelphia officials.

On Wednesday, Kane’s top deputy, Bruce L. Castor Jr., will take the oath to become acting attorney general.

Governor Tom Kane, a fellow Democrat, renewed his previous calls for Kane to step down. In turn, Ferman pressed charges against Kane last summer. Pat Toomey (R., Pa.) in this year’s election, but those hopes were derailed in 2015 when the investigation into Kane was first made public. If that was not enough, Kane then waltzed into a new grand jury investigating the leaked story and – as prosecutors alleged and the jury obviously agreed – lied about it and subsequently concocted a cover-up of her actions. “We have rules that we have to abide by and there are no exceptions to that”, prosecutor Kevin Steele said, adding that the prosecution team were vying for prison time for Kane. But an early honeymoon period in office, when she spoke out for the legalization of gay marriage, was soon marred by turmoil as she sparred with officials inside and outside the office. I implore Attorney General Kane to do what is right: “put the commonwealth’s residents first and step down from office”. “I believed this when she was charged, and today, after conviction, there should be no question that she should resign immediately”, Wolf said. Two state Supreme Court justices were caught in the scandal and lost their jobs. Kane reportedly leaked the documents in an effort to embarrass Fina to avenge her own embarrassment.
