Paul Pogba Quickly at Home on Second Manchester United Debut

Zlatan Ibrahimovic overshadowed Pogba by scoring both goals in the 2-0 win at Old Trafford, but the France worldwide put in an outstanding performance in the centre of the park on his debut after a world record £89.3 million move from Juventus.

United made Southampton pay for wasting their chances after 36 minutes, with Ibrahimovic scoring his third goal for United in three games. Everything is new, it’s like a big puzzle we need to put the puzzle together and then we work through everything.

“Sir Alex and I exchanged a few ideas about him and I know that he and the club did everything [to keep Pogba in 2012], but the decision was made by other parties”, Jose told journalists during his press conference on Thursday.

Explaining the decision over who took the penalty, Mourinho said: “I designated three – Paul, Wayne and Zlatan”. Everything that was individual was superb and the things related to the team he [Pogba] tried very hard to do.

José Mourinho hailed Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s display as the Swede scored both goals in Manchester United’s victory against Southampton and the manager was also clear that his side could not have begun the season any better.

“It’s a great feeling, I’m very happy”, he said.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has described the performance of record signing Paul Pogba as phenomenal. “Because September we have Capital One Cup, we have Europa League, we have seven matches in September and they all play and then I am happy”, he said.

Mourinho has started the season with a 4-2-3-1 formation and Pogba is expected to take up one of the midfield berths in front of the back four.

Pogba showed his family value on Friday evening as he sent birthday wishes to his older brothers just hours before his second United debut.

Pogba played the whole game, despite not being fully match fit, and could even have scored in injury time when he sprinted the length of the field to follow a counter-attack and shot just wide.

“I’m happy for the team”.

“We dream big. United are a big club”.

“I think he’s full of confidence, but I have so many good players”.
