Daniel Sturridge Unhappy At Liverpool – Says He’s Being Played Out Of Position

In what was a clear message to the striker, Klopp explained: “The first thing is I don’t want to play Daniel as awide player but of course he can start there and play there”.

“Obviously in the modern day game you have to try to be flexible”.

The England global said after the victory over Burton that he feels he would be most effective when playing in front of goal. I don’t want to play Daniel as a wide player, but he can play there. I’m on autopilot there.

“We’ve got a great squad with talented players but he’s been outstanding for us and he gives us something different – he can have a big season for us”.

“Of course each week they couldn’t or didn’t play is not too good for a player but that is how it is in football, you accept this when you start playing the game”.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference, which I’m taking from Liverpoolfc.com, Jurgen Klopp had this to say regarding Spurs and their new signings.

Burton boss Nigel Clough – a former Liverpool player – said of the Liverpool tie and Friday’s league game against neighbours Derby: “This is a brilliant week for the club, not a crucial week. If I’m put in that position, I have to play there”. When Daniel, for example, plays as the No. 9., in the centre, and just stays there – that makes no sense.

He added: “I have to do a job for the team”.

“You need enough players around the box to finish”.

“In the end, it was not as hard as we could have imagined or expected” Klopp said at news conference afterwards.

“That’s absolutely no problem”. It is flexible football, passing movements, patterns, and all these things. You certainly can’t argue with that sort of goalscoring record and maybe Sturridge does have a point about wanting to play down the middle.

“It’s only a starting position for the next attacking move”.
