Smith will miss three ODIs and two Twenty20 games to return home and prepare for next month’s one-day series in South Africa. This news story is related to Print/145332-Dilscoop-Dilshan-to-retire-after-Australia-series/ – breaking news, latest news, pakistan ne.
When Dilshan – who captained his team in all formats – enters the dressing room on Sunday against Australia, he’d definitely savour the moment as would the Sri Lankan fans at Dambulla.
Australia’s tour of South Africa begins September 27 with a one-day match against Ireland in Benoni after which it plays five ODIs against the Proteas.

“It’s obviously a burden but a great burden captaining your country”, Lehmann was quoted as saying in Australian newspapers Friday.
“But as a coach and a selection panel we’re making sure he’s fresh and ready to go each and every time he plays for Australia”.
“It took a bit of convincing to get me over the line because I hate missing cricket but in the long run a little bit of a break will do me the world of good”.
“It was well planned and well thought out, and that’s what we’re doing”.
“I have made a decision to retire from the ODIs after the third match in Dambulla (Sunday) and will play the two Twenty20s and then retire completely”, Dilshan told local media.

Matthew Wade then staged a gritty fightback with support from Travis Head as the duo managed 64 runs between them to keep Australias hopes alive.
