Trump surrogate defends secrecy on tax returns
Donald Trump’s son said Wednesday that it would be “foolish” for his father to release his tax returns.

“You would have a bunch of people who know nothing about taxes trying to look through and trying to come up with assumptions on things they know nothing about”, Trump said. “It would be foolish to do”.
“Yes, I think he should release his tax returns immediately”, Stone said in a radio interview with the “Fernand Amandi Show”, according to BuzzFeed News, when asked if Trump was making a mistake by not doing so.
Donald Trump will not release his tax returns before election in November.
But Eric Trump said his father’s returns – a stack of documents “five feet tall” – would reveal little.
After calling for the release of his tax returns while working for rival Ted Cruz during the GOP primary, newly hired Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway has suddenly seen the light and now says her boss shouldn’t be burdened by transparency.
There is, however, a first step that Trump has no excuse for not taking.
“I heard someone the other day, ‘Oh well, Trump has ties to the mob”. And by the way, for those who listen carefully, Trump’s promise means he will never release his tax returns.
Everson argued, however, that an audit has no bearing on the information filed in the return because the original return reflects a taxpayer’s factual tax status from the time of the filing.

But nothing prevents us as taxpayers from choosing to release our tax returns – and those who aspire for the highest public office have done so for decades.
