The two parts of the following sentence might seem unrelated, but stick with us for a second: In the wake of the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, President Barack Obama has made his debut in virtual reality.

Obama was able to try out the experience too, and was pictured yesterday (as seen in the image above) at The White House looking suitably captivated by the wonder of the technology.

“The VR experience provides a personal look at President Obama’s trip to Yosemite with his family over Father’s Day weekend”, Oculus said in a blog post on Friday.

The tour is created to be watch with the Oculus Gear VR, but anyone who wants to take the trip can just click on it’s Facebook account and enjoy it since the video was also made into an interactive 360 degrees video on the platform. The entire video is narrated by the president, who details the history of the National Park Service and speaks with Don Neubacher, the Yosemite National Park superintendent, about the importance of conservationists like John Muir. Today, explore the first-ever virtual reality experience with the First Family in celebration of the National Park Centennial. It’s a battle for the future of virtual reality.

As a part of the National Park Service centennial celebration, park-goers will receive free admission into all 412 national parks August 25 – Aug. 28. Although the video won’t surround browser viewers in full 360 degrees like it would using a headset, they can use their mice to click around and change the viewing perspective.
