Late Heartbreak As Tigers Lose To United

Substitute Marcus Rashford scored a stoppage-time victor as Manchester United sank Hull City 1-0 at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday to keep up Jose Mourinho’s 100 percent Premier League record at his new club.

The United teenager, a second-half replacement for Juan Mata, turned home Wayne Rooney’s slide-rule pass for the only goal of the game in the second minute of time added on to finally break Hull’s fearless resistance and send the newly-promoted club to their first defeat of the season.

Manchester United’s English striker Marcus Rashford celebrates after scoring their late winning goal during the English Premier League football match between Hull City and Manchester United at the KCOM Stadium in Kingston upon Hull, north east England on August 27, 2016.

United has won its first three games of the season for the first time since 2011, when Alex Ferguson was still in charge.

United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic had earlier troubled the home team but was flagged offside when he back-heeled the ball into the side netting.

Rashford, who burst on to the scene last season under previous boss Louis van Gaal and was rewarded with a place in England’s Euro 2016 finals squad, will have thanked elder statesman Rooney for his victor.

Man United Jose Mourinho praised Marcus Rashford after his late game-winning goal, and his overall style of play.

That came eight minutes before the break and United again went close 60 seconds when Rooney found space on the right and drilled a cross that was just behind Anthony Martial.

Rashford’s goal arrived in what used to be known as “Fergie time”, yet this latest win suggests the mantle of United manager has finally be handed to s suitable successor.

“We did everything to win”, Mourinho said.

United were frustrated in wet conditions by Hull’s dogged defending before the 18-year-old Rashford struck by converting Wayne Rooney’s cross.

Chelsea had it much easier against another promoted club.

Last season, however, was a different story – Hazard failed to score a Premier League goal until April, and Chelsea badly underperformed, finishing 10th ultimately.

Jamie Vardy and Wes Morgan put the Foxes up 2-0 before Leroy Fer’s consolation.

Today against Liverpool, with Kane conspicuously constrained culminating in his substitution for teenager Joshua Onomah on 83 minutes, the Londoners earned a somewhat fortuitous point thanks to Danny Rose’s 72nd-minute strike.

After Everton’s 1-0 win over Stoke, Koeman indicated McCarthy may need surgery, and should that be the case, rumours of potential moves to Celtic or Newcastle will surely fail to materialise, leaving the 25-year-old in limbo for the coming months.
