A man once dubbed the Fake Beard Bandit and due to be married in three weeks was charged Friday in a bloody crossbow attack that left three people dead and another person seriously injured.

Cruz said she soon saw the flashing lights of a fire truck that was among the emergency crews that responded to the scene.

A man is in custody after bodies found at a home near Kingston Rd. and Markham Rd.

The victims, all related, also have not been identified; one victim called 911 around 1 p.m. but was dead when police arrived, Detective Sergeant Mike Carbone said.

Thursday’s crossbow killings shocked the otherwise tranquil, tree-lined neighborhood as police cordoned off the immediate area. “You don’t hear about people being killed by crossbows, especially in the city”.

In response to an alert about a possible bomb threat, over a suspicious package found at the city waterfront, police despatched members of the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear team to a condominium building, and closed the surrounding street. Authorities said however that it was not immediately clear that the weapon had been used in the attack.

Supt. Bill Neadles said there was a link between the deaths and the package found in a unit on the 14th floor of the condo tower, but would not specify the nature of the link.

Cruz, who described the incident as “shocking”, said: “Generally it is a very quiet neighbourhood, we are very happy to live here”. “She would come visit from time to time”, he said. “I heard somebody screaming in anger and banging”. That man was among the three people who died at the scene.

“I heard the cries of pain for five minutes and nothing more”, told various media neighbor Jerome Cruz, about the terrible murder that was later linked to an alert to suspicious package in the center -city.
