Fire in Leavenworth; Evacuations in place

Fire officials are battling an estimated 400-acre fire near Leavenworth.

Nash said two air tankers, one air attack plane and two helicopters were working the fire at that time and would continue to drop retardant and water until dark. More crews are en route to help, including seven wildland fire strike teams.

The town of Peshastin west to Anderson Canyon, includes Alpine View Estates on Chumstick is under level 1 evacuation orders.

Power lines have been affected, and there is a power outage near Anderson Canyon Road due to the fire.

Nash said a fire investigator has been called in, but it’s too early to know the cause of the fire. Cell service is likely out for much of the Leavenworth/Peshastin area due to a main cell tower out of service, according to Chelan County Emergency Management.

Level three evacuations mean to leave now.

The American Red Cross has opened an emergency evacuation shelter at Icicle River Middle School, located at 10195 Titus Road.
