New Clinton Attack Ad Hits Trump on Support from White Nationalists

“In light of recent reporting on the relationship or the ties between the Secretary Clinton State Department and the Clinton Foundation, is it still the Department’s contention or determination that there was no conflict of interest, that everything that was going on was appropriate and above aboard and followed the rules?” Weeks before the first early voting, Trump faces the urgent task of revamping his image to win over those skeptical of his candidacy.

Trump went so far as to call Clinton “bigot who sees people of color only as votes, not as human beings” at a rally Wednesday. “She should be ashamed of herself!”

Clinton’s campaign posted a series of tweets Thursday referencing Trump’s race- and religion-based controversies, including the Manhattan real estate magnate’s questioning of President Barack Obama’s birthplace and legal action filed against him for allegedly refusing to rent to black and Latino tenants. She expressed, “Just imagine Donald Trump reading that and thinking: ‘This is what I need more of in my campaign'”.

Clinton said Wednesday that Trump “is taking a hate movement mainstream”.

By way of prebuttal, Mr Trump gave a speech in Manchester, New Hampshire that ended a moment before Mrs Clinton’s, in which he said she was effectively calling Trump supporters racists.

“I do feel sometimes like this campaign has entered into an alternative universe”, Clinton said in an appearance Monday night on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live”. “I want you to hear these words, and remember these words: Shame on you”.

Her speech focused on the so-called alt-right movement, which is often associated with efforts on the far right to preserve “white identity”, oppose multiculturalism and defend “Western values”.

Ahead of the speech Thursday, the hashtag #AltRightMeans began trending on Twitter. White supremacists now call themselves white nationalists. More than two thirds of those who think she’s being held to a higher standard say that’s because she’s a woman, while significantly fewer of those who think she’s being held to a lower one think her gender is the explanation.

Mrs Clinton is determined to keep that label firmly round his neck, and to woo every unhappy Republican who wants to support the party of Ryan and Dole, not Breitbart and Trump.

That one came shortly after the Charleston massacre, when Democrats and Republicans alike were doing everything they could to heal racial divides.

Trump also told the audience-which appeared to be at least 95 percent white- that “the Democratic Party has taken votes of African Americans for granted, and they’ve done nothing to deserve it”.
