Arsenal beat Watford 3-1 to ease pressure on Wenger

So, they will also try to kickstart their season with a win this weekend and so, we can easily expect a neck to neck fight for this game.

“Now Mesut is almost there, not completely, but he just goes again”.

Watford’s courageous decision not to merely play for damage limitation led to a well-contested second half.

The pressure had been on Wenger and his side heading into the weekend after flawless starts from both Manchester clubs had left them playing catch-up.

“I believe we shot ourselves in the foot in first game (a 4-3 defeat to Liverpool) and were under huge pressure”.

As for Arsenal, Wenger could give starting spots to Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil after they made appearances against Leicester following an extended break due to their participation at Euro 2016.

“We are not capable in the end to maintain completely for 90 minutes exactly the same intensity physically, but overall it’s a very encouraging performance and a good win”. A failure to sign any marquee players this transfer window has also infuriated some disillusioned fans, although Arsenal is on the brink of announcing the signings of two players – Germany defender Shkodran Mustafi and Spanish striker Lucas Perez – before the window shuts on Wednesday.

“I think they should go through, both of them”, he said.

“We had two hard away games (against Leicester City and Watford) but today I believe we had a good solid performance”, Wenger said. We have to finish the paperwork.

“Ozil is not physically there completely but what we want from Ozil is assists and goals and I hope he can get that this season, 10 or 15 goals plus the chances he creates”.

It was a decent team move but we’re not sure it was quite worth that reaction.

Substitute Roberto Pereyra scored for the Hornets on his debut but it proved to be a consolation for the hosts.

With new players surely coming in the side, Arsenal must feel that they have enough in their resources to challenge for the title.

Wenger said the two players have had their medicals.
