Police seek Joshua Kite in relation to Northland incident

Police are continuing their hunt across the greater Auckland area today for an armed and risky man who was at the centre of Friday’s massive manhunt in Northland.

He is armed and unsafe and should not be approached, police said.

After a short pursuit, the vehicle crashed in Kamo. The driver then fled from Police initiating a short pursuit before crashing on Kamo Road, Kamo.

He has links to Wellington, Auckland and Northland.

A police spokesman said the search was contained to one residental address and there was no risk to the wider public.

“I run our local drop-in centre and we’ve decided we will stay closed until we know more, just to encourage people not to come out”, she said.

Staff from four districts, Northland, Waitemata, Auckland City and Counties Manukau, are looking for the man who is believed to be in possession of a firearm, he says.

Earlier this morning it was reported that residents of Maungatauroto were on lockdown and surrounding areas were cordoned off.

Despite the police presence in the area some locals continued as normal.

The wanted man’s identity was not known.

He is described as being in his late 30s, up to 6ft tall with brown curly hair. He was reportedly wearing a blue t-shirt with white writing and a brown zip up hoodie.
