“The US and its followers committed a serious hostile act of finding fault with the DPRK’s measures for bolstering nuclear deterrence for self-defense, such as the strategic submarine-launched ballistic missile test-fire”, said the North’s statement released by KCNA in English.
North Korea is making progress on a submarine-launched ballistic missile system but any deployment of the technology is years away, a United States think tank said, as the UN Security Council promised action over Pyongyang’s latest test.
The United Nations Security Council has strongly condemned North Korea’s launch of ballistic missile from a submarine on August.
North Korea on Sunday rejected the statement by the United Nations Security Council condemning its recent ballistic missile launches, threatening to take “eventful action steps” in retaliation.
The United States says the system is defensive and meant to counter North Korea’s missile threat.
In Pyongyang, North Korean Foreign Ministry official JonMin Dok told Associated Press Television News in an interviewthat the US-led discussions at the United Nations were a “terribleprovocation” and that the country is developing nuclearweapons because of “outrageous nuclear intimidation” by theUnited States.
In a report, the Korea JoongAng Daily said mentioned that the North’s present 2,000-ton Sinpo-class submarine can only fire one SLBM from about 10 meters under water and must return to a base to load another missile.
In 30-minute telephone talks, Kishida and Kerry also reaffirmed that their countries will closely cooperate with South Korea in dealing with the North, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said.
The increasingly provocative actions by North Korea do not exist in a vacuum, but instead appear to be responsive to the massive two-week Ulchi Freedom Guardian (UFG) war games that began on Monday with over 50,000 South Korean and 30,000 USA soldiers taking part.
Jon said that the latest submarine-launched missile didn’t cause any harm to the security of neighboring countries. Its development of reliable submarine-launched missiles would add a weapon that is harder to detect before launch.
Friday’s statement did not include such language.

Members also expressed “their commitment to a peaceful, diplomatic and political solution to the situation” and stressed “the importance of working to reduce tensions in the Korean peninsula and beyond”.
