A man has been charged with filling a lube dispenser with hydrochloric acid at a gay and bisexual sex club in Sydney’s west.
It is not the first time the venue had been targeted with this type of attack, with items in the room “alarmed” to warn of tampering, police said.
The Aarows club in Rydalmere was the target of the attack, the ABC reports.
The 62-year-old set off alarms on the dispensers, leading to security guards rushing in and allegedly catching him swapping the lubricant for hydrochloric acid.
No serious injuries have been reported to police and a worker at Aarows declined to answer questions on Sunday.
Aarows has previously made headlines over an attempted shooting murder in the carpark of the club in 2013.
In a statement, NSW Police say the man has been charged with administering a poison with the intent to injure, along with a slew of other offences.
He has been granted conditional bail and will be back in court next month.
