Pakistan Says Four Militants Behind 2009 Attack on Sri Lankan Team Killed

Four Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) terrorists who were allegedly involved in the attack on the Sri Lanka cricket team in 2009, were shot dead by the Pakistan police in the wee hours of Sunday, Press Trust of India reported.
The encounter with the Pakistan police took place late on Saturday on the edge of Lahore when other unknown gunmen tried to break the terrorists out of police custody, a counterterrorism official said.
The March 2009 attack on a visiting Sri Lankan cricket team killed six police officers and two bystanders.
The attack of Sri Lankan cricket team claimed the lives of seven police officials, and injured seven players including Mahela Jayawaredene, Kumar Sangakkara, Ajantha Mendis, Thilan Samaraweera, Tharanga Paranavitana and Chaminda Vaas. Both spoke on condition of anonymity, fearing retribution.
Other such raids netted another 228 Afghans, said paramilitary spokesman Khan Wasey.
