Tony Romo Has Fracture in Back, Will Miss 6-10 Weeks

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is facing a lengthy lay-off after breaking a bone in his back. A few minutes later Romo was trying to get back in the game but the Cowboys coaching staff wouldn’t allow it. The team will now rely on rookie QB Dak Prescott. Jason Garrett hasn’t ruled Romo out for week one but it is unlikely we see Romo suit up.

“So that probably more than anything else is what is not giving us a timetable”.

He immediately grabbed at his back, crumpled on the field while trainers sprinted from the Dallas sideline and images of Romo’s injury problems from a year ago immediately flashed to mind.

Dallas has gone 1-12 without Romo in the past two seasons, as compared to 15-4 with No. 9 behind center.

“Still trying to take it in a little bit”, Frederick said. They already lost backup Kellen Moore for the year earlier in training camp.

It seems Dallas does not yet know how long it will take Romo to recover, or at least the Cowboys don’t want their competition to know. He said after the contest he planned to return but was held out by coaches. He has completed 39-of-50 for 454 yards (9.1 yards per attempt) and five touchdowns, good for a passer rating of 137.8. However, there’s a major difference between preseason games and the regular season ones, and Prescott will have big shoes to fill until Romo is ready to come back.
